Dear Bill: Your letter stating that the Fraternity Club of Orlando endorsed the proposition for a scholarship at the University is at hand. That is fine! I know of no greater service that your Club could render than that of giving some poor, worthy boy an opportunity to secure a college education. With kindest personal regards and best wishes, Sincerely your friend, A. A. Murphree.

March 3, 1925 letter from Mr. Albert A. Murphree, University of Florida, Office of the President, Gainesville to W. B. Crawford, Fraternity Club, Orlando, Florida.

Mr. A. A. Murphree served as President of the University of Florida from 1909-1927.

The letter references the proposal by The University Club of Orlando to establish a scholarship program.

The University Club of Orlando Scholarship program started in 1932. For history of the scholarship including photos and progress of the first four recipients see: The Club Scholarship in  The University Club of Orlando: Tenth Anniversary, 1926-1936.

The University Club of Orlando scholarship program continues to this day and has donated over $1.5 million in scholarship funds to colleges and universities in Central Florida.
