In February 1973, the Orlando Union Rescue Mission celebrated their 25th year of meeting the needs of the less fortunate in the city of Orlando. An eight-page brochure was published to commemorate the event and features photographs of buildings, the bargain store, Sunday School, holiday food boxes, kitchen and key individuals.

According to the O.U.R. Mission History in the brochure: June 16, 1948 H. B. Austin, Joseph P. Rutland, S. B. Peele, C.E. Parsons, C. P. Martin, J. P. Lowry, George L. Stuart and Mr. J. Wiggins met at Broadway Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Moore to associate themselves together as a non-stock and non-profit corporation for the purpose of lending spiritual guidance to the wayward and forsaken and physical aid to the needy...

Peruse the booklet.
